Pastor James Coates arrested and charged with violating public health requirements for hosting crowded services and ignoring physical distancing COVID-19 requirements inside the GraceLife Church in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, reported CBC News.
Coates’ lawyer James Kitchen told CTV News that Coates refused to stop holding crowded services, as judge requested, and remains in jail:
His first obedience is to his Lord, is to his God. And normally, obeying Jesus and obeying the government go right in hand. The government’s forcing him in to a position where he has to choose between disobeying God and obeying government, or obeying God and disobeying government.
