Police tased a 25-year-old mentally ill man, Joshua Harvey, multiple times inside a bank in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Aug. 24.
Harvey died three days later at the St. John Medical Center.
The Tulsa Police Department released body camera footage that shows officers using multiple rounds of electricity on the shirtless man and struggling to turn him on his stomach in order to handcuff him, as though there is no other way to do so.
The Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office is still determining the cause of Harvey’s death, notes Tulsa World.
Police said Chief Chuck Jordan released the police body cam video and audio “in an effort to collaborate and show transparency.”
Police claimed Harvey was difficult to subdue because “his strength was matching the strength of the four officers.”
Harvey pleaded with officers to take the Taser barbs out of his body, but they refused:
Take the Tasers off. Take ‘em off. I’m dying. He’s about to kill me.
Harvey passed out and never regained consciousness in the hospital.
