NRA Is Slammed After Mass Shooting At Mercy Hospital In Chicago
Up to six people were reportedly shot at Mercy Hospital in Chicago, prompting a surgeon and others on Twitter to slam the National Rifle Association (NRA), which attacked doctors and nurses for telling stories about treating shooting victims on Nov. 7 (video below):
Someone should tell self-important anti-gun doctors to stay in their lane. Half of the articles in Annals of Internal Medicine are pushing for gun control. Most upsetting, however, the medical community seems to have consulted NO ONE but themselves. https://t.co/oCR3uiLtS7

In response, Tennessee surgeon Eugene Gu, tweeted today:
The NRA told doctors to stay in their lane and now there’s a shooting at Mercy Hospital in Chicago. Doctors can be patients and victims of gun violence too. We’re all in this together as human beings who just want to live and come home to our families. Enough is enough.

Others on Twitter slammed the NRA:
People are getting shot in hospitals now, and the @NRA is telling doctors to ‘stay in there lane. Next, the @NRA is going to say that if the doctors had been armed, this wouldn’t have happened. New poll for the @NRA. Does the @NRA need to go?

Multiple people, including a police officer, have been wounded in an “active shooter” attack at #MercyHospital on the #NearSouthSide. Lots of people pointing out that, less than two weeks ago, the @NRA called for doctors to “stay in their lane.” Stay safe, everyone.

So, @NRA, now that there’s been a shooting at Mercy Hospital in Chicago, do you still want the doctors to stay in their lanes?

i’m so… i hate that. there are so many vunerable people there. newborns, children, and just so many sick and ill people. also does no one else find it suspicious that a week ago the NRA was telling doctors to “stay in their lane?” i’m so pissed off. my heart aches for everyone

Doctors, nurses, teachers, students, gamers, concert goers, bar patrons, club goers, reporters, worshipers, restaurant customers = HUMANS. So, tell me again whose fucking lane is it @NRA ? When is it #enough ?

So @NRA, what lane should doctors get into now?
