NRA Blames Florida Video Game Shooting Survivor For Wearing Headphones

NRATV host Grant Stinchfield attacked a survivor of the mass shooting at the Madden video game tournament in Jacksonville, Florida. on Aug. 26.

Stinchfield played viral videos from a tournament participant and falsely claimed the videos showed a survivor not reacting to the shooting because he was wearing headphones:

There’s no running for cover, there’s not even any looking around. They’re still focused on the screen in front of them as someone is firing a handgun through the crowd

However, Media Matters notes that is not what the video shows:

Stinchfield apparently is mistaken about what the video shows. No one is seen wearing headphones and the only headphones seen in the shot are draped over a computer monitor, not on someone’s head.

The person filming seems aware of the shooting as it happens since the camera moves around without focusing on the screen. He also later tweeted about being “in shock that I actually was witnessing this when it was live.”
