Nikki Haley — Defender of the Racist Confederate Flag — Says ‘America is Not a Racist Country’

The former governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley, who was forced to resign as Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations in 2018, claimed the United States “is not a racist country” during the Republican National Convention on Aug. 24:

In much of the Democratic Party, it’s now fashionable to say that America is racist. That is a lie. America is not a racist country.

While trying to smear the Democrats, Haley didn’t mention that she defended the racist and pro-slavery Confederate Flag in 2019 by claiming it was about “service, and sacrifice, and heritage.”

Haley also defended people who respect the Confederate Flag in an op-ed in the Washington Post in 2019.

Historian and creator of PBS’s acclaimed “The Civil War” series Ken Burns debunked the myth that the Confederate flag is not a symbol of racism and white supremacy on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” in 2015:
