New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo Denies Trump’s Total Authority Claim: ‘We Don’t Have a King’

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo told the “TODAY” show that President Donald Trump did not have total authority to reopen states that have shutdown due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Trump claimed on April 13 that his “authority is total” to order virus-stricken states to reopen, leading the hashtag #DictatorTrump to trend on Twitter.

Cuomo destroyed Trump on the popular morning show:

I don’t know what the president is talking about, frankly. You have to remember it’s the states that created the federal government, right?

It’s the colonies that created the federal government, not the other way around. We don’t have a king, we have a president.

The president’s just wrong on that point. If he pushed it to that absurd point, then we would have a problem.
