New COVID-19 Cases From RNC in Charlotte, GOP Defends Safety Measures, Few Wore Masks
As expected, there are new COVID-19 cases being reported from the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Mecklenburg County and GOP officials said that two attendees and two local support staff were infected with coronavirus, notes The Charlotte Observer.
Mecklenburg County health officials raised concerns about a lack of social distancing and mask wearing, but the GOP is defending its safety procedures.
Austin Weinstein of The Charlotte Observer noted that masks were required at the RNC, but about 50 % of the attendees were ignoring the rule on Aug. 24.
