New Andrew McCabe Book Says 25th Amendment Was Considered To Remove Trump

Former acting FBI director Andrew McCabe’s forthcoming book, “The Threat: How the FBI Protects America in the Age of Terror and Trump,” recalls how McCabe feared Trump would order him to stop the Russia investigation after the firing of James Comey.

McCabe said Justice Department officials seriously considered removing Trump through the 25th Amendment in 2017.

CBS News’ Scott Pelly confirmed that McCabe said in a new “60 Minutes” interview that Department of Justice’s discussed whether Trump’s cabinet could be rallied to oust him from power:

There were meetings at the Justice Department at which it was discussed whether the vice president and a majority of the cabinet could be brought together to remove the president of the United States under the 25th Amendment,

An excerpt of the book published by The Atlantic recalls how Trump was furious when he learned that former FBI Director James Comey had flown home from Los Angeles on a government plane just after the president fired him.

For his part, Trump spent taxpayer time tweeting insults about McCabe:
