Phyllis Pena tackled a 19-year-old man, Zane Hawkins, suspected of peeping in her daughter’s bedroom in Lake Jackson, Texas, on Jan. 31.
Pena called the police about the incident, but when officers saw the suspect nearby, he was able to evade them until he was taken down to the pavement by Pena, which was filmed by the dashcam inside the police car.
Pena told KPRC how the police were impressed by her athleticism:
First instinct was just to make sure he didn’t go any further. The cop fist-bumped me and he was like, “Hey, so I heard the Texans are looking for a new linebacker.”
