Video has surfaced of police violently taking down and using a Taser on Milwaukee Bucks rookie Sterling Brown over a parking violation in Milwaukee on Jan. 26.
Shortly after 2 a.m., police found Brown’s car parked horizontally across two handicap parking spots spaces outside a Walgreens store; within minutes there were three police cars at the scene.
About eight minutes into the incident, police demanded that Brown take his hands out of his pockets. Moments later, the officers took Brown down and used a Taser on him.
Brown’s demeanor contradicts the police report which said Brown was “very aggressive” and “physically resisted” the officers’ attempts to handcuff him, notes WLS-TV.
A white officer admits on the video that he was angry about Brown’s demeanor:
If the guy hadn’t been such a dick it would’ve been — ‘Hey, have a nice day,’ you know?” But then I thought, ‘He’s being an ass. He’s trying to hide something.’”
Brown was arrested on a possible misdemeanor charge of resisting or obstructing an officer, but police ultimately declined to charge him.
Milwaukee Chief Alfonso Morales apologized on May 23, but Brown is planning legal action.
