Michael Cohen Promised Drug Company Novartis Direct Access To Trump On Exchange For $1.2 Million: Report
President Donald Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen reportedly accepted $1.2 million from the pharmaceutical giant Novartis for direct access to Trump.
An unidentified source at Novartis told Stat News that Cohen approached Novartis in 2017 and offered to set up meetings with the Trump administration officials, including the president:
He reached out to us. With a new administration coming in, basically, all the traditional contacts disappeared and they were all new players. We were trying to find an inroad into the administration.
Cohen promised access to not just Trump, but also the circle around him. It was almost as if we were hiring him as a lobbyist.
Cohen is not a registered lobbyist, which could place him in legal jeopardy.
The Novartis source could not explain why Novartis agreed to pay Cohen $1.2 million without proof that Cohen could really deliver, which he did not do.
The Novartis source added: “This episode was clearly a mistake.”
