The line judge — who was struck in the throat by a tennis ball hit by Novak Djokovic at the U.S. Open on Sept. 6 — is receiving death threats because Djokovic was removed from the tournament.
According to the Daily Mail, line judge Laura Clark has been harassed mostly by Djokovic’s online fan base, who are notoriously aggressive.
Clark’s Instagram page has been targeted by the threats, including one that mentioned her late son Josh who died in 2008 from a bicycle accident. Some Djokovic’s fans have called her “sick” and an “alcoholic.”
