Leaked Audio: Trump Said Low Black Voter Turnout in 2016 ‘Was Great’
Leaked audio caught President Donald Trump calling low black voter turnout in 2016 “great.”
Trump — who strongly opposes safe mail-in voting during the COVID-19 pandemic — made his bizarre comment during a private meeting inside Trump Tower on Jan. 16, 2017, reports POLITICO:
Many Blacks didn’t go out to vote for Hillary ‘cause they liked me. That was almost as good as getting the vote, you know, and it was great.
Trump made his comments to civil rights activists Martin Luther King III, William Wachtel, James Forbes, Johnny Mack and Scott Rechler.
Wachtel’s then-chief of staff Tootsie Warhol recorded it Trump’s cooments on his iPhone.
Trump asked the civil rights leaders if they were “surprised that Hillary lost so badly,” even though she won the popular vote by 3 million.
