A Burmese python captured in the Florida Everglades on Oct. 2 has broken the state record by measuring 18.9 feet long.
Two contracted python hunters — Ryan Ausburn and Kevin “Snakeaholic” — Pavlidis caught the giant snake, notes WFOR.
More than 5,000 Burmese pythons have been captured and removed from the Everglades since 2017.
Officials claim the snakes are escaped or released pets, and are causing harm by eating possum, rabbits, deer, bobcats, and other indigenous wildlife in the Everglades.
