Former sitcom star and Christian activist Kirk Cameron once claimed that evolution was not true because archeologists had not discovered a Crocoduck, a cross between a duck and a crocodile.
Cameron claimed on the Fox News show”The O’Reilly Factor” in 2007 that evolution was not true because there were was no evidence of animals transitioning into other animals, notes the Friendly Atheist.
As part of his evidence, Cameron held up a picture of what he called a “Crocoduck,” a hybrid between a duck and crocodile.
CBS News notes that scientists have discovered a creature “with a bill like a duck but teeth like a croc’s, a swanlike neck and killer claws… It also had flippers like a penguin, and while it walked like an ostrich it could also swim.”
The scientists noted their discovery in Nature magazine where they estimated that the two-legged, meat-eating dinosaur was about 18 inches tall and roamed the earth 75 million years ago.
One of the scientists, Dennis Voeten, a paleontology researcher at Palacky University in the Czech Republic, told CBS News: “It’s such a peculiar animal. It combines different parts we knew from other groups into this one small animal.”
Paleontologist Kristi Curry Rogers of Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota said the creature is “a pretty crazy chimera: a swan neck and dinosaur body, but with a mouthful of tiny teeth and hands and feet that look like they might be good for swimming.”
