White House counselor Kellyanne Conway urged Alabama voters to support Republican U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore, who has been accused of sexual misconduct — including an attempted rape of a 14-year-old — by nine women.
Conway, who has claimed to support women’s rights, attacked Moore’s opponent, Democratic candidate Doug Jones, on “Fox and Friends”:
Doug Jones in Alabama, folks, don’t be fooled. He will be a vote against tax cuts. He is weak on crime. Weak on borders. He’s strong on raising your taxes. He is terrible for property owners. And Doug Jones is a doctrinaire liberal, which is why he’s not saying anything and why the media are trying to boost him.
Conway provided no evidence for her wild claims about Jones, and was asked if people should vote for Moore.
I’m telling you that we want the votes in the Senate to get this tax bill through.
Co-hosts Brian Kilmeade and Ainsley Earhardt pointed out that Moore has been condemned by the Republican National Committee, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, the Young Republican Federation of Alabama, and “a lot of women.”
Conway fired back:
Right. And you know what? I just want everybody to know Doug Jones — nobody ever says his name and pretends he is some kind of conservative Democrat in Alabama. And he’s not.
