The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals voted 2-1 to dismiss criminal charges against President Donald Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who pleaded guilty twice to lying to the FBI in 2016.
Two Republican-appointed judges carried the majority by ruling that U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan overstepped his authority when he brought in outside counsel to argue against the U.S. Department of Justice’s unusual move to drop charges (instigated by Trump’s unofficial lawyer William Barr), reports The Hill.
