Jockey Emisael Jaramillo fell off the horse Cryogenic only seconds before reaching the finish line during a race at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida, on Dec. 28.
Cryogenic was a long shot to win, but those who bet on the horse almost collected a jackpot of $571,744.
Gulfstream Park reporter Acacia Courtney explained why Cryogenic may not have won:
Cryogenic was very green in stretch once he made the lead and was by himself. For those wondering, the horse galloped out fine. @JaramilloJockey was taken to Memorial Hospital, moving extremities tho is complaining of chest pain. Thoughts for Emisael!

Mike Welsch of Daily Racing Form added:
Emisael Jaramillo expected to be released from hospital this morning but according to his agent not likely to ride again for about one week recuperating from bumps and bruises incurred in frightening spill in Thursday’s finale.
