Idaho Teachers Mocked Mexicans, Dressed As Border Wall For Halloween
At least a dozen teachers dressed up as pieces of a border wall and Mexican stereotypes for Halloween at Heights Elementary in Middleton, Idaho.
The “wall” was made of cardboard pieces that said “Make America Great Again,” reports KTVB.
Additionally, one teacher wrote “MEXICAN” across the brim of her sombrero. Other teachers wore fake moustaches (picture below).
Photos of the teachers were posted to the Middleton School District’s Facebook page, and later deleted, but not before screenshots were made.
Middleton School District superintendent Dr. Josh Middleton said he did not believe the teachers intended to hurt students’ feelings with their costumes:
Do I think there was a malicious intent in this poor decision? No, I don’t, Was there a poor judgment involved? Absolutely.
The teachers who wore the costumes have not been publicly identified, and it’s unclear if they will face termination or any discipline.
