The Post-Register reports that Lt. Gov. Janice McGeachin gave an oath to the some pro-gun militia members at a rally on the Capitol steps in Boise on April 19.
The rally was held by the Real III Percent of Idaho, a pro-gun right-wing group.
McGeachin was the acting governor for part of April 19 since Gov. Brad Little was out-of-state, administered an oath normally given to the National Guard.
McGeachin spokesperson Jordan Watters tried to play down the oath in an email to the Post-Register): “Some of the attendees at the Patriots’ Day celebration wished to recite an oath to express their support for and dedication to the U.S. Constitution. It was not delivered in a legal context and therefore holds no legal significance.”
