Homeland Security Sec. Kirstjen Nielsen Falsely Claims Trump Admin Does Not Have A Policy Of Separating Immigrant Children From Parents
Homeland Security Director Kirstjen Nielsen falsely claimed that the Trump administration does not have a policy of separating immigrant children from their parents despite numerous verified news reports and Attorney General Jeff Sessions announcing the separation policy in May, noted NBC News.
Nielsen tweeted on June 17: “We do not have a policy of separating families at the border. Period,” notes the New York Daily News.
Despite Nielsen’s outright lie, children as young at 53 weeks are being separated from their parents at the border and are held in an old warehouse in south Texas, behind fencing that resembles cages.
One cage reportedly holds 20 children; boys and girls are using foil sheets as blankets.
