Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf — who has not been confirmed by the Senate — told Fox News on July 21 that unmarked federal police are “proactively” arresting people in Portland, Oregon, but do not have support from local police:
The department, because we don’t have that local support, that local law enforcement support, are having to go out and proactively arrest individuals.
And we need to do that because we need to hold them accountable. This idea that they can attack federal property and law enforcement officers and go to the other side of the street and say “you can’t touch me” is ridiculous.
The Boston Herald notes that the federal police assaults are called “Operation Legend” is named after a 4-year-old boy, LeGend Taliferro, who was killed while sleeping in his home in Kansas City, Missouri, on June 29.
