GOP Tax Reform Bill Cuts Health Care For Existing People, Creates Savings Accounts For Unborn
House Republicans passed a tax reform bill that cuts health care for existing people and creates savings accounts for unborn humans.
The bill expands tax-advantaged college savings accounts, also known as 529s, to include “unborn children.”
The beneficiaries in the bill are described as “a child in utero. A child in utero means a member of the species homo sapiens, at any stage of development, who is carried in the womb,” notes POLITICO.
The tax bill also does away with the individual mandate in Obamacare, which makes it possible for health insurance companies to pay for the health care of sick, existing people (who have left the womb).
Tom McClusky, president of March for Life Action, told POLITICO how happy he was to see non-existent people receiving savings accounts:
We’re thrilled about it, but it wasn’t something that we were specifically calling for. We’ll fight to make sure it stays in there.
A spokeswoman for NARAL Pro-Choice America, said Republicans are trying to place anti-choice “personhood” language into federal law:
The GOP’s relentless obsession with advancing its dangerous anti-choice ideology knows no boundaries and no common sense. Inserting “personhood” language into their tax bill is just the latest example of how they’re trying to turn back the clock on this country.
Democratic Rep. Diana DeGette of Colorado added:
This is a back-door attempt to establish personhood from the moment of conception. What’s next, giving a Social Security number to a zygote?
