Former Houston Metro Police officer Jairus Warren was convicted in a Texas court of assault bodily injury for the beating of a homeless man at a train station on Sept. 14, 2016 (raw video below).
A judge sentenced Warren to two years probation and 30 days of jail time, but Warren is going to ask for a new trial, notes KHOU.
Warren was filmed beating Darrel Giles until Warren’s partner stepped in to stop the assault.
Giles said he was waiting for the next train while charging his phone. When Warren asked him to leave, Giles says that’s when the attack began.
