Getty Images Pays Melania Trump 6-Figures For Pictures To Be Used In ‘Positive Stories Only’
The photo agency Getty Images reportedly paid First Lady Melania Trump a 6-figure amount in royalties for pictures that can be used in “positive stories only.”
The fascist-like licensing agreement by Getty was discovered by NBC News, which examined President Donald Trump’s most recent financial disclosure.
The financial disclosure noted that Melania pocketed $100,000 from Getty Images for third-party use of 187 photos shot between 2010 and 2016 by Belgian photographer Regine Mahaux.
The Hill notes the news organizations that licensed the pictures included: “Yahoo News, the Daily Mail, Fox News, Condé Nast and the Houston Chronicle.”
NBC News also licensed the pictures, but claimed it never signed the agreement and did not know of the royalties that were going to Melania.
Getty refused to comment on its confidential deal with Melania, which compromises legitimate news reporting.
A White House spokesperson directed NBC News to the president’s financial disclosure forms, which NBC News already had.
Mahaux told NBC News that “everything is legal,” even though legality was never a question, but rather the ethics.
