“Fox & Friends” host Steve Doocy fawned over U.S. Senate candidate Joe Arpaio, and made no mention of his long history of racism or his criminal conviction.
For years Arpaio ordered law neofrcehment officers to illegally racially profile Latino drivers and unlawfully detain hundreds of them.
Arpaio was ordered by a federal court to stop the racial profiling, but continued it, which resulted in his conviction for contempt of court. Before being sentenced to jail, Arpaio was pardoned by President Donald Trump in 2016.
Doocy mentioned none of Arpaio’s racism, criminal past, or civil rights abuses,
Instead, Doocy introduced Arpaio as “known for being tough on immigration.”
Doocy asked the one-time convicted felon if he wants to “drain the swamp” like Trump promised to do:.
Do you think you would be using that experience, it would be helpful to drain the swamp? Because ultimately, during the commercial you said Donald Trump was a heroic figure to you, and he wants to drain the swamp, if you were in the Senate would you do that as well?
Doocy closed the interview by calling Arpaio “Senator Joe Arpaio” and wishing him good luck.
KNXV reported a poll released on Jan. 9 showed Arpaio “skyrocketing to the top of the Republican Primary for U.S. Senate in Arizona.”
