Former White House Ethics Czar Warns Trump Is Rigging FBI investigation Of Kavanaugh: ‘I Call Cover Up’
Sources tell NBC News the White House counsel’s office told the FBI not to investigate Julie Swetnick — who has accused Supreme Court nominee Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct in high school — and not to investigate former classmates who have contradicted Kavanaugh’s Senate Judiciary Committee testimony:
A U.S. official briefed on the matter said its not unusual for the White House to set the parameters of an FBI background check for a presidential nominee.
However, former former White House ethics czar Norm Eisen claimed that is a “lie” on Twitter:
This is a lie: “A U.S. official..said its not unusual for the White House to set the parameters of an FBI background check.” I dealt with hundreds of these as WH Ethics Czar & it is malpractice for WH to rule out Swetnick, Yale boozing, Judge’s Safeway job & etc. I call cover up. https://t.co/0k25jzy2gn
