President Donald Trump’s former deputy communications director Bryan Lanza claimed it was “fake news” for the media to accurately report on Ivanka Trump’s comments regarding the Trump administration’s policy of separating immigrant families and jailing children.
CNN and other news sources accurately reported that Ivanka said: “That was a low point for me. feel very strongly about that. I am very vehemently against family separation and the separation of parents and children.
In response, Lanza told CNN that Ivanka’s contradiction of father’s policy was simply a “diverse voice,” which brought laughter from the panel:
She is doing actually doing something. It is different. CNN only wants to focus on one sentence of an hour-long event. That is fake news.
Tapper fact-checked Lanza on the spot: “That’s a major policy decision. Something you don’t like does not become fake news.”
