Florida Teacher Tells Students That She Has The Right to ‘Dislike Blacks’

A teacher from Poinciana High School in Kissimmee, Florida, was removed from her class after a student’s TikTok video showed her demanding the right not to like Black people on Oct. 12.

The teacher and her students were having a discussion about police brutality and Black people when the teacher claimed she was assaulted by a gang, notes Spectrum News 13:

I was 16-years-old, and I was attacked on a MARTA train by a gang — and yes gang, wearing bandanas, gang signs, language — of Blacks in metro Atlanta. I have as much right as anybody else to dislike Blacks for what happened to me…You don’t get to sit there and preach to me what I do and don’t know.c

Osceola County School Spokeswoman Dana Schafer said the teacher, identified as Tracey Brown, has been moved to a new position away from interacting with students while the school district investigates the incident, notes the Orlando Sentinel:

We’ve certainly heard from individuals, and the teacher’s statements absolutely do not reflect any belief that is held by the Osceola School District.
