Palm Beach County, Florida, Sheriff’s Deputy Frank Di Orsini was filmed by another officer’s body cam video saying, “It smells like f—ing dirty N-word in my f—ing car,”
A video of the incident aired on WPEC, but Di Orsini’s face was censored, either by the station or by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a sheriff’s office Internal Affairs report, Di Orsini made the racist comment in the presence of a West Palm Beach police officer, who was wearing a the body cam, notes WPEC.
Di Orsini called police because his personal vehicle, a Jeep, was broken into while outside his house.
Di Orsini told the West Palm Beach police officer that the criminal stolen about $80 from his wallet after breaking into the Jeep.
Florida state Sen. Bobby Powell, Jr., an African-American, was shocked by the video:
It’s very alarming. I’m very concerned that this would happen.
It’s not just the language, it’s not just something that he said. It was the tone behind it, and the intent. The hurtfulness.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, which has others racist incidents committed by officers, said it suspended Di Orsini for 40 hours and ordered him o take diversity training.
