Farmers Are Hacking Software To Avoid Expensive Repair Bills On Their Tractors

A new documentary from Motherboard shows how farmers in Nebraska are using their computers to hack diagnostic software   to avoid paying expensive repair bills to tractor companies, such as John Deere which claim sole ownership to the software.

The farmers say that the only people who can repair their tractors are the manufacturers and dealers who will not share the software with them.

One farmer said it costs him $2,000 to simply haul his equipment in and back for a diagnostic check.
