Disabled Woman Assaulted After She Asked Customer To Put On COVID-19 Safety Mask in Staples Store

A disabled woman was assaulted after asking a female customer to put on a COVID-19 safety mask inside a Staples store in Hackensack, New Jersey, on July 29.

Margot Kagan, who uses a cane, suffered a broken tibia inside the store, which requires mask wearing during the contagious pandemic..

Kagan told WCBS that she was concerned about catching COVID-19 because she’s immunocompromised:

There was a woman on the other side of the COVID dividers that they have everywhere now, and she wasn’t wearing it either. She was wearing it below her chin. I said, “You should really put on your mask.” She proceeded to curse at me.

According to police, a store surveillance video shows the female customer grabbing Kagan’s and and throwing her to the ground. Police are still trying to find the suspect.
