COVID-19 Patient Plays Violin in Hospital ICU to Thank Health Care Workers

A retired orchestra teacher, Grover Wilhelmsen, battling COVID-19, in the ICU at the McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah, played his violin as thank for health care workers.

Nurse Ciara Sase said she got his musical request approved by doctors, and watched him (as did other ICU workers) as he played church hymns and the “Tennessee Waltz,” notes KABC:

It brought tears to my eyes. For all the staff to see a patient doing this while intubated was unbelievable. Even though he was so sick, he was still able to push through. You could see how much it meant to him. Playing kind of helped to soothe his nerves and brought him back to the moment.
