Costco Requires Shoppers to Wear Masks, Science-Deniers Whine #boycottcostco
Costco announced on April 29 that shoppers would have to wear a mask or face covering “that covers the mouth and nose at all times.” Costco does not require children under 2 or people unable to wear a mask due to a medical condition, reports TODAY.
Costco is also practicing social distancing by limiting the numbers of customers in its stores, which is line with current guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
However, science-deniers were in full force on Twitter calling for boycotts with the hashtag #boycottcostco.

You have hit a new low… you are an American corporation with an obligation to support our American values, dictating face mask for your workers is one thing but forcing this on your loyal members who paid for a membership is a complete abuse of power. #boycottcostco
Seriously considering canceling my #Costco membership over this face mask requirement to shop in their stores. No thanks.— Sandra (@mrshelpmeet) April 29, 2020
Because my adult autistic child will not keep a mask on, we can't shop at Menards or Costco. Thanks for making my shopping decisions easy. Hello Home Depot! Shame on you! #AutismAwareness #boycottmenards #boycottcostco #disabilityrights— Intentional Synergy (@IntentSynergy) May 1, 2020
The science-deniers will roundly mocked by #supportcostco.
If you don’t want to wear a mask when shopping at #costco and you are in #boycottcostco gang then thank you for making rest of us safe to shop there. As a Costco member for a long time and I #supportCostco, Thank you #Costco— Manik Magar (@ManikMagar) May 8, 2020
I have to laugh reading through the #boycottCostco hashtag. Some people sound BEYOND ignorant. Alsooo…. If wearing a face mask is causing you to cancel your membership – good. You probably don't properly wash your hands as well and I don't want to be anywhere near you.— Zak Taylor (@zakkTS) April 30, 2020
