Joan Illuzzi, a senior New York prosecutor, said that Amy Cooper made a 911 call in May and falsely claimed that an openly gay man — who was birdwatching — “tried to assault her.”

Cooper became infamous in May when she called 911 on May 25 about an innocent black man in Central Park, which went viral and resulted in her nickname “Central Park Karen.”

The New York Times reports that “Cooper, who appeared in court remotely to answer misdemeanor charges that she had filed a false report, was negotiating a plea deal with prosecutors that would allow her to avoid jail.”

Illuzzi said that Cooper used the police to “both racially offensive and designed to intimidate” and is “something that can’t be ignored.
