CDC Director Rochelle Walensky Says Americans Don’t Have to Wear Masks Outdoors, Republicans Refuse Vaccine, COVID Rips Through in India and Europe

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Rochelle Walensky told Americans that they no longer have to wear safety masks outdoors while millions of Republicans refused to get vaccinated and COVID variants continue to spread across Europe and devastate India.

Only 29 percent of Americans have been vaccinated, but Walensky gave the green light to fully vaccinated individuals to go maskless under certain conditions that most Americans will never read, notes Axios:

  • Doing physical activities outdoors alone or with members of your household like walking, running, hiking or biking.
  • Attending a small outdoor gathering either with fully vaccinated people or a mixture of vaccinated and unvaccinated people.
  • Dining at an outdoor restaurant with friends from multiple households.
  • Current guidelines on vaccinated people indoors and traveling still applies.

Walensky added places where Americans should wear masks even though most Americans will never read the guidance:

  • Crowded outdoor events like live performances, parades or sporting events.
  • Indoor spaces like a barber or hair salon or a movie theater.
  • Attending a full capacity service at a house of worship and singing in an indoor chorus.
  • Visiting an uncrowded indoor shopping mall or museum.
