There have been calls for Attorney General William Barr to resign and/or be impeached after Special Counsel Robert Mueller reportedly sent Barr a letter accusing him of distorting the Mueller report with his infamous four-page summary (more video below).
On April 20, Barr told a House committee that he did not know what Mueller thought about his summary about the Mueller report, which was apparently a lie.Democratic Sen. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland called for Barr’s resignation.
Democratic presidential candidate Julián Castro called on Barr to resign:
Attorney General Barr willfully misled the American people to cover up attempted crimes by Donald Trump. He should resign his position or face an impeachment inquiry immediately. https://t.co/dTKCMccF7X— Julián Castro (@JulianCastro) April 30, 2019
Constitutional law expert Laurence Tribe, who has taught at Harvard Law for half a century, called on Barr to be impeached if he does not resign:
AG Barr flat-out LIED to the American people about the Mueller report’s incrimination of President Trump. He’s been outed as a total fraud. We can’t let Barr — or Trump — get away with such gross abuse of power. Barr must be impeached if he doesn’t resign first.— Laurence Tribe (@tribelaw) April 30, 2019
Former Nixon White House Counsel John Dean slammed Barr during an interview with CNN’s Erin Burnett:
He looks like he’s ready to take a bullet for the president on this issue. He’s let the president off Scott free and that clearly wasn’t the findings of the special counsel’s report, we know now … especially on the obstruction issue.
