Border Patrol Says Detention Centers Are Full, Starts Releasing Migrants

The Border Patrol released 50 recently apprehended migrants in McAllen, Texas. Hundreds more immigrants are expected to also be released because officials say there is no room to hold them.

The Border Patrol usually transfers migrants to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to be “processed” and placed in detention facilities, but both agencies have run out of space, notes the Los Angeles Times.

The Wall Street Journal reports the Trump administration “will stop sending some migrant families who illegally cross the border in Texas’ Rio Grande Valley to jail.”
