Biden and Harris Call George Floyd Family, Promise to Fight For George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, Senate Republicans Oppose It

President Joe Biden and Vice President Harris called the George Floyd family after Derek Chauvin was convicted on all counts of murdering George Floyd on April 20.

Biden promised to work for police reform, including the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, which would require all police departments to use bodycams and would remove qualified immunity that protects police from being sued for their actions.

NBC News reports the bill, approved by the Democratic-led House in March, cannot pass the Senate without the support of 10 Republicans because of the 60-vote filibuster rule. So far, Republicans have opposed it.
