Democratic Rep. Beto O’Rourke of Texas mocked Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas during their debate with a nickname used by President Donald Trump (more video below):
Senator Cruz is not gonna be honest with you. He’s gonna make up positions and votes I’ve never held or have ever taken. He’s dishonest. It’s why the President called him ‘Lyin’ Ted,’ and why the nickname stuck, because it’s true.
For his part, Cruz got into an argument with the moderator of the debate while using a tired old GOP talking point about scary Democratic anger:
“Don’t interrupt me, Jason,” says Ted Cruz as the moderator tried to ask a follow-up question on the importance of remaining civil in debate.#TexasDebate https://t.co/zx11ahFiDT pic.twitter.com/4gxaJK3vw1
