Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) openly mocked Republican Sens. Tim Scott (R-SC), Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Ben Sasse (NE) who warned the $2 trillion coronavirus stimulus bill would increase in unemployment insurance, and thus be a “strong incentive for employees to be laid off instead of going to work.”
Sanders made fun of their fearmongering and hypocrisy on the Senate floor on March 26:
Now I find that some of my Republican colleagues are very distressed. They’re very upset that somebody who’s making 10, 12 bucks an hour might end up with a paycheck for four months, more than they received last week…
Meanwhile, these very same folks had no problem a couple years ago voting for a trillion dollars in tax breaks for billionaires and large profitable corporations.
