Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly Resigns After Calling Navy Captain ‘Stupid’
Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly resigned 24 hours after calling Captain Brett Crozier, the ousted commander of the USS Theodore Roosevelt “stupid,” in an address to the ship’s crew on April 6, reports CNN.
Some sailors cursed and yelled back at Modly during his cowardly attack on Crozier.
Defense Secretary Mark Esper ordered Modly to apologize on April 6, two US officials told CNN.
Modly apologized for his smear of Crozier only hours after he defended his comments to the aircraft carrier’s crew.
