Former White House Staff Secretary Rob Porter was reportedly up for a promotion when news broke last week that Porter had been accused of physically abusing his two ex-wives.
According to CNN, Porter was being considered for the White House deputy chief of staff position under White House Chief of Staff John Kelly.
Kelly has been criticized for his initial defense of Porter as “a man of true integrity and honor,” which Kelly has since walked back, reported CNN.
Top White House aides, including Kelly, reportedly knew about the abuse accusations for months, noted CNN and POLITICO.
