Nearly 1,200 children have been killed by gun violence in the United States since the Parkland, Florida mass shooting on Feb. 14, 2018, reports Democracy Now.
However, the student activists who survived the massacre have not given up trying to pass strong gun safety laws and elect pro-gun control lawmakers.
David Hogg shared their plans with the Guardian in a recent phone interview:
One of my goals in the next two years is to get 71% youth voter turnout in 2020. I like the way the number looks. I think it’s a good goal that’s going to be hard. I think there’s a lot of people that, quite frankly, really, really, really hate our president.
